SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is about meeting our current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. It includes environmental, social, and economic aspects, often called the three pillars of sustainability:

Environmental Sustainability – Protecting natural resources, reducing pollution, conserving biodiversity, and mitigating climate change.

Economic Sustainability – Promoting responsible economic growth, ethical business practices, and long-term financial stability without harming people or the planet.

RAINWATER HARVESTING

Rainwater harvesting is the practice of collecting and storing rainwater for later use, reducing dependence on traditional water sources and promoting sustainability. It helps conserve water, reduce runoff, and lower utility bills.

Methods of Rainwater Harvesting

1. Rooftop Rainwater Harvesting – Collects rainwater from roofs and directs it to storage tanks or underground reservoirs.
2. Surface Runoff Harvesting – Captures rainwater from driveways, roads, or open land into ponds or recharge pits.
3. Recharge Wells & Percolation Pits – Helps replenish groundwater by directing rainwater into the soil.

Uses of Harvested Rainwater

Irrigation for gardens and agriculture.
Drinking and cooking (after filtration).
